Arrived in Switzerland a week and 2 days ago, last meals with parents, friends and sec4s before heading to Switzerland. scenery in Switzerland, from my room, overlooking Lake Geneva. first the morning view, then the night view. see that dot on the night view, that is the moon. goodness, the moon here rises like a balloon. it's like super duper uber fast. Butts in Glion. My roomie, Alexandra. My bunch, Jane (not Jane Jane Darling, is another Jane. hahahas*), Elizabeth (erm, definitely not the Libby if you mistaken...), Roxanne (and these two are apparently missing in the pictures..). My clique's Laura (Poison woman!), JinJie (Kitkat!), Kelvin (apparently was sleeping in the room during the clubbin night.. BANANA!) and Sebastian (Mr. Marica). Classmates Daniel, friends Patrick and Reddick. Closer friends Nadia and Sophia are missing.. hahahas* apparently didn't know E11 peeps then... now, practically know everyone in it. abt 50 of us. jane and i patrick and i reddick and i guanghui and i den my seniors... valerie (super duper uber nice), andrew (why u so lyk tt...), sangvar (spore fanatic..), andre, dis vietnam senior hu i dun even noe his name.., n loads n loads more from china, taiwan, etc. update u guys abit on everything: weather: fluctuates quite a bit. can be really warm like 25 degrees, but these two days, it's going on the down.. about say 5 degrees at night, 10-15degrees in the day. pretty rainy. not very good. scenery: good or bad. you decide. this is the night scene from my room, focusing on montreux town. the other one is in the day, where the clouds are everywhere. nice eh?! also from my room.. right in front of my window... the other one is from the lift at my school down to the club.. that's montreux, the town that we head to when we have nothing else better to do up here. people: strong cultural shock. great difference. or maybe i was from a conservative jc culture. too amazed by their... ahem* openess? certain people have habits and personalities that you just can never fathom. other than my clique* (which has apparently taken some change...), the rest r good to be hi-bye-how are you friends. which i think is a good thing, because you still are mixing around, and knowing them, just not to a very large extent. guys/girls: rich (99%), handsome/pretty (80%), smart (50%). so... interested? i fall in the other 1%, i.e. neither rich, pretty nor smart. hahahas* good catches everywhere. but not interested. it's still that idiot who clouds up my life that's in my mind. food: school food is fabulous. free for friends/family (maybe why our sch fees is so ex) if we bring them in. we have restaurant bellevue (to reserve a day earlier, a la carte menu), cafe vennois (a stupid list that we have to tick, if not we can only eat at 6.30pm for dinner) and we r scheduled for meals (so much like in a jail with 5 star hotel food). and we have la residence's restaurant run by semester 3 seniors, fantastic food. but macdonalds n stuff. ohmygawd. prices are as such: take the standard exchange rate of 1.2sing dollars = 1 CHF - macdonald's meal (big mac, upsized, changed fries to wedges, and one doughnut) - 14.90CHF. i.e. $17.88 - cantonese fried rice (sub standard) - 10CHF. i.e. $12. - Char Kway Teow (edited version. no harm, with capsicum, chicken and beef, i asked for extra chilli and it was still not spicy enough...) - 12CHF. i.e. $14.40 - macdonald's ice lemon tea large - 4.50CHF. i.e. $5.40 okie that's for food. transportation: we have a special (i.e. cheaper) rate to get down to montreux (the town that we live above it.. i.e. we live on the mountains.. and we study on the mountains!) - 13CHF. i.e. $15.60 stationery: you must be thinking, what is there to talk about stationery? 1 - there is NO pilot pen that i use. so, i have to get my parents to send it by DHL, which here, i want to commend DHL, superb service, superb speed, no delivery halfway lost. bravo! 2 - they have NO foolscap paper. i.e. LINED paper. only notebooks. that is something i can never comprehend. practically absurd. they only have GRAPH paper foolscap. and that, they call it writing paper. who the hell can read off those boxes. and their stationery is ABSURDLY expensive... - my file, which is kinda designed... from their SUPERMARKET, is 9.80CHF, i.e. $11.76 - my file to class, french file, alil more special.. really useful, also $11.76. - the CHEAPEST file, that i can find, that i have to say, is cheaper than singapore, or maybe the same price, is 2CHF, i.e. $2.40. that's the thick ring file, which is pretty sturdy. i haven't seen one so reasonably priced in singapore, at least. - the liquid paper (or known to be as TIPEX) here, is 5.40CHF, i.e. $6.48. do they use gold to cover words?! so freakingly ex. rooms: my room is the above average one. i have unfortunate friends who apparently got the old old rooms. no noticeboard to pin pictures, super bad view, lousy chairs, lousy furniture, BUT carpeted floor. and most importantly... my laundry here costs only 0.30CHF, because i am able to take my 2.70CHF deposit when i finish doing my laundry. which all my other friends, in other buildings and hotel des alpes cannot! hahahas* they spend 3CHF on that dumb laundry. therefore building 3 rawks. =) lifestyle: people here party 24/7/365 if there is no school i guess. every night, there will be parties at some corner of building 3. so i will just have to bear with the noise until like 1am or something. when i have to wake up for breakfast, which is at 7.15am! apparently, i skipped breakfast for good the past few days. hahahas* these parties are so dangerous.. well been there, done that, no more. health hazards: everyone seems to have been through nose bleeding here. some of them say that it has got to do with the altitude that we are at. i have no idea since i flung my bio like nobody's business. so... well, assuming that it was because of the altitude, all of our noses bled. feelings: many many couples surfaced within 3 weeks. some, have surfaced and submerged. uncountables have apparently shocked their roommates with the existence of another person in their room. for what, at what, you guys go figure that out. other than relationships, first two weeks was obviously traumatic for many. most parents came with their children, which reminds me of my first day here, with my luggage only coming in at 9pm, and i was in tee n jeans, whereas all the other peeps were in suits, etc. LV, gucci, Coach, Bally, CD, u name it they have it bags and clothes. although we are young adults, many just couldn't accept the fact that their parents were going back. loads of tears, loads of cries, loads of fear. well, we are all beginning our story as foreign students. the bond that we all have, is the understanding without our parents or close friends being with us.. and that feeling sucks. and it's terrible, when on weekends, especially on friday afternoons, when you see those living in switzerland or france, packing up their luggage and busily calling for the cabs, heading back home. while the rest of us can only begin thinking our plans over the weekends... we only have each other to depend on. out of school life: other than shopping on saturdays, it's only studying on sunday. shops close at 6.30 from monday to friday, and 5pm on saturdays, not forgetting to mention the significant SUNDAYS where they are ALL closed. other than the coop, which is some mini supermart, where they sell essentials. that includes, post offices. shite. and i can never ever make it on time to send stuff. we are all so busy and end classes only at SIX FOURTY. kid me man, who the hell can get to La Poste to send a damn parcel. and clubbing here is so bad, they only have one pathetic club to drink n dance. wth. it just kills my clubbing n drinking mood, which is obviously a good thing. branded goods, are obviously not situated in montreux, only in geneva (i.e. 1h20mins away) or zurich (3hrs awae). pathetic man. the most branded here, i.e. esprit. u so wana kill urself if you were me... school life: projects are like bombs coming down from heaven... assignments are like raindrops... and we have dumb 10mins break after 50mins of lessons, which is soooo irritating. just give me a 20mins break right at the end would be better. hahahas* duties from council is on its way as well. so life, essentially, is like that of my secondary school days. no more skipping of lectures n stuff, cannot afford to. in financial terms of course. too expensive to skip, though we can have 60 absences. if you think 60 is a lot, just to let you know that, 60 means 60hours. and we have 2 hours of each subject each day, meaning that you cannot turn up for the 2nd half and be not there for the first half... to be exact, 30 absences. okie, so wad else do u guys wana noe?! hahahahas* happy with the update?!
too busy to update anything.
Busy replying,
busy explaining,
busy registering,
busy adapting,
busy reminiscing.
but no crying.
till these two days.
maybe reality has finally sunk in.
i miss everyone.
i miss him.
i really really really miss you guys.
picture speaks a thousand words. check out my life here.
